World of Warcraft: Secrets of Argus (Community Blog Topic)

This is my contribution to WoW Insider's Community Blog Topic: Pitch your World of Warcraft expansion.

The open war between alliance and horde was finally over following Mists of Pandaria.
Both factions had traveled to Old Draenor to deal with the Iron Horde.
Back on Azeroth, Wrathion had learned about a titan artifact that could be of great help in the fight against the Burning Legion. This story was told in World of Warcraft: Titan (7.0).

Paladin Week: Summary

Ohmy is my paladin, and she was my third character to hit 70 in Burning Crusade. Paladin tanking in BC was a bit of a mess. Or, tanking in general really. What seemed most weird right now is that you needed a certain amount of Spell Power to make enough threat to hold mobs and bosses. Spells like Concecration and Avenger's Shield did holy damage, and thus became stronger with more spell power. The typical thing to do as a Protection Paladin was to go for a spell power-weapon in main hand. If I'm not mistaken, there was also "mana per 5" on some of the protection gear sets. Just like the hunter gear sets. Things have changed...

The Celestial Tournament

Pet Battles... I wasn't convinced at Blizzcon. About four months after launch I had a month of frenzied "collect all of them". I've beaten all trainers and all legendary pets. Heck, I even did them all in one day for [The Longest Day]. I haven't been doing a lot of pet battles (in my opinion), but I've done a fair share of them, now and then. When Timeless Isle arrived in patch 5.4, I fairly quickly beat Little Tommy Newcomer's Lil' Oondasta. But when I entered The Celestial Tournament all my pets died miserably... :'( I tried last week, and after a lot of work I beat all the three trainers. I gave one of the celestials one try, got wiped out SO FAST, and just left and logged out. I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to "start all over"... I've read a couple of blogs and Wowhead-comments since then, and leveled some core pets up while leveling my alt. I want to especially mention Cymre's Celestial Knock Out for motivating me to try again. :)

Monk Week: Shunbi

Meet Shunbi, my third monk!

Monk Week: Ninasan

It's paladin week, so what better time to introduce Ninasan, my second monk? ;)

Monk Week: Summary

I hope you all had fun with Monk Week. :) I know I did! So much fun that I haven't written all the posts I planned yet. My main monk has been raiding, my second monk got to do one wing of the flex raid, and my third monk is now level 86!

Monk Week: Kinlai

This is Kinlai. My monk, my main character, and my most played character over the last year.

Mage Week: Summary

The poor mages had to share week with another class named "patch". ;-) A lot of bloggers still found some time to show the mages some appreciation, although after hunter week the amount of posts declined a bit. After reading these posts, it seems to me that I'm not the only one that don't feel like I have the arcane, fire and frost magics under control.

Mage Week

Inspired by the resent destruction of beautiful Vale of Eternal Blossoms, I'm gonna let my inner Sha handle Mage Week.

Anger

It makes me angry when others play their mages so well, but I just can't seem to get it right!

Hunter Week: Summary

Hunter Week was a great success! 70, SEVENTY, blog posts about hunters! Wow... And that's just the ones that I found. Some people took the ball and just ran with it! The Godmother made two new hunter alts, letting Twitter decide on faction/race and made an all-hunter horde guild on Draenor EU. Many people had several posts in them about their hunters, and there was a lot of proud posts with lots of feelings. This is not a contest, but if it was, hunters would be in the lead...

Hunter Week

I don't even know where to start! You know the header image of this blog? (Move your eyes upwards from this text until you see a badass draenei hunter.) That is The Laeleiweyn running together with her pet Ratchet. Ratchet was her first pet, an Infected Nightstalker from outside of Exodar on Azuremyst Isle, and he is named after PS2-game Ratchet and Clank. It troubled me quite a bit that he was in fact "infected", but he's still alive and well, thank you. (Infected didn't have the deeper meaning that newbie Lae imagined.) In her hand Laeleiweyn is holding Rhok'delar.

Druid Week: Summary

When Druid Week started, I had two goals for my Lilliel:
  1. Change spec from boomkin to feral
  2. Get to level 90

Draenei Druid

It is #DruidWeek, and to show her appreciation for the druids that have been keeping her alive, safe and with company, Kinlai has dressed up as a druid! Crazy crazy...

Death Knight Week: Summary

So, how did Death Knight Week go for me?

Salay did get to tank the World Bosses. I think I died 3 times on Oondasta, AFTER bragging on Twitter about how good I was getting at managing my survivability cooldowns... She also tanked some heroic scenarios, which I kind of like. In normal scenarios people can get a bit annoyed if a tank joins, but in heroic scenarios they're just happy to not have to deal with aggro. She has also done all of Throne of Thunder (LFR), BUT as DPS in frost spec (with her tank gear equipped). I didn't really like the Frost Spec much, so I'm sticking with my Blood Spec. But I couldn't make myself tank LFR all on my own, so there's that. I am a coward. I'll keep doing some heroic scenarios and world bosses here and there, but after doing those LFRs, I have concluded that it's not really my wish to have all of my characters following the same progression path, so I will likely not do those on her anymore.

Druid Week

Druid is a class that is extremely important to me. My own feeble attempts at druidism make up a sad story, so this is mostly about the other druids that I love.

Death Knight Week

This is my Death Knight, Salay. She was my third character to reach 90 after my monk and my hunter, which must mean I like her.

Alt Appreciation!

Are you a fellow altoholic? Do you love all your alts equally, or do you have some alts that are kind of... neglected? Did you have plans to level, gear or roleplay them all, but never got around to it?

I would like for everyone to join me the next 11 weeks (and perhaps we continue after that as well) to celebrate all the classes!

Community Blog Topic: What would you buy from the in-game store?

Wow Insider started a Community Blog Topic three days ago called "What would you buy from the in-game store?" I'm very conflicted about this topic. So far I've bought every single mount and pet as soon as they've appeared in the store, and I've paid for a second account to get the "Recruit A Friend"-mount.

So You Think You Are A Tauren Monk Transmog

My good friend Jakester sent me a Feathermoon Headdress, and I immediately felt inspired to make a look out of it. I often get a transmogger's block when I try to make a new set on my own; I find a helm and a chest, then I find 10 different legs that I can't choose between, and just forget about boots, gloves and shoulders... Other times I find things that match each other perfectly, only to discover that they are indeed part of a set. Not this time though, here is my So You Think You Are A Tauren? Monk Transmog!

LUA-spirits aid me!

My raid team is now 8/12 normal in Throne of Thunder, and I've been a Brewmaster for a little over a month. I've learned a lot this time; my rotation and cooldown usage has improved a lot, I change talents and glyphs depending on which fight we're doing, and I understand the different stats and gearing strategies better (thanks to Sunnier and Elitist Jerks!). I got my tier 15 2-set bonus the other day, and I suddenly find myself interested in knowing how much of the incoming damage at any given time I actually stagger.

I opened WeakAuras, selected New, selected Text, and then... I realized that although I know what I want to say, I don't speak this LUA-language!

Macro that covers all talents in a tier

Since last time I wrote something here, I started tanking. Our raid team had 1 tank, 1 healer, 2 ranged and 5 melee, so we just had to do something about that. I started tanking, the frost Death Knight changed to mage and we're trying to recruit some more healers.

As a tank I find myself changing talents more than I used to do as a DPS. I could/should probably have optimized better before as well, but now I really have to. I find it very annoying to change talents and either having to drag the spell from the spellbook to the bar every time, or macro them together, but then having tooltip not showing the active talent.

Luckily one of my guildies, Fuzzybunny, had a fix! This macro will show the tooltip of the active talent. If you change the talent you will have to press the button once to make it update.

Made a small overview over the profession cooldowns. Hope I got it all.

Purple draenei monk transmog: Input needed

After being a monk for six months, and transmogging to what I think a monk would wear; simplistic and/or functional gear, I feel like it's time to "get back to my roots" and try the draenei twist. Problem is, while there are some really cool and spacey weapons in Outland, equally spacey gear is not that common.

This is what I have managed to put together so far:

Windwalker Prepot Ritual

Prepotting means to use use two DPS-increasing potions during one bossfight. We use one potion before we enter combat, as there is a "per battle"-cooldown on potions, and then we are free to use another potion later in the fight, preferably together with Heroism. Trinkets tend to proc early in the fights, so we're able to benefit from both.

Quintessential Quintet: Shadow Priest

I got Quintessential Quintet two days ago when my shadow priest dinged level 90. I had a lot of fun leveling her, I have so much more understanding for shadow priest DPS than what I do for any of the mage specs. Where my mage died and died and died, my shadow priest has been shielding, healing, DOT'ing and fearing, and just owned those mobs. I'm sure good mages are strong when questing, but I am not a good mage. :) My priest looks totally adorable when she gets wings after using Devouring Plague. So adorable in fact that I feel like not waiting for three Shadow Orbs before using it. And she has cool shadow ravens surrounding her, and even her little companion has shadowform. Awww...

Suggestions for Valor Points

After two posts mostly complaining about Valor Points, it's time to get constructive!

Project Valor Point Cap

This reset I made a plan on how to cap my Valor Points. The character that I want to cap on is also the character that doesn't need anything at all from heroics, scenarios or dailies. So what if I instead did the hard work on a character that could benefit from it, and then provide the nice little "Valor of the Ancients"-buff for the rest of the family? Farmraid with that buff makes a very good profit!

My newly dinged level 90 mage, decked out in greens, have been working her ass off this reset.

$#*@! Valor Points

The fun thing about writing something like "$#*@!" is that one can assume there are some really foul words behind the symbols. But it could, in theory, just as well hide the words "cute", "love" or "kitten".

The last three weeks I've been struggling to cap my Valor Points. It's mostly because I'm exalted with everything and everyone that can walk and talk and give out quests. And also I hate don't like 5man dungeons very much. There's only one Raid Finder that I want one remainding thing from. So the last three weeks on the day before reset I've been stressing like mad to get it done! This isn't a very original post about a problem that I'm the only one in the world to have, but it didn't really happen to me before now recently.
