The Hunter Faction

I was visiting Darkmoon Faire Island a couple of weeks ago. When I got to the Shooting Gallery, Rinling yelled at me: “Come play a game so simple that even a hunter can do it!”. What the...? Grr... I gave him a /rude. Then I took a better look at the guy. A troll. Of course. Quick search on Wowhead tells me he insults all the other classes too, not just me and mine.

Nevertheless, a train of thoughts started.

For once, I want to be part of the main team when a big bad thing happens to the world. I’m tired of helping the “holier than thou”-paladins, the tree hugging druids and the down to earth shamans all the time.
I want one quest giver, one tiny quest giver, that says “I’m sorry ClassNotHunter, this situation needs to be handled by professionals. But if you absolutely want to help, you can collect 10 mushrooms and make us some soup”.

There are 86 factions in the game, and not one of them is dedicated to the best class.

I WANT A HUNTER FACTION!!!

Or maybe even two. I picture two coexisting hunter factions; one noble faction, founded by one of the Windrunner-sisters. And a second faction, a bit more silly and fun, lead by Hemet Nesingwary and Fargo Flintlocke. The first one will lead us, the heroes, to unknown dangers and adventures, where we'll show that we’re the brains, the tactical masterminds, the know-how and the skills of Azeroth. The second one will make sure we're having a lot of fun on that journey.

United Hunters of World of Warcraft

Draenei hunter Laeleiweyn from Azuremyst Isle in tier 5, night elf hunter Velocitas from Teldrassil in tier 2,
tauren hunter Niqora from Mulgore in tier 3, orc hunter Honeytrap from Durotar in tier 6,
troll hunter Lylu from Echo Isles in tier 7, goblin hunter Vandpistol from The Lost Isles in tier 10,
worgen hunter Morynne from Gilneas in tier 13, undead hunter Asharhi from Tirisfal Glades in tier 11,
blood elf hunter Dakona from Eversong Woods in tier 4, dwarf hunter Simelda from Dun Morogh in tier 1 and
human hunter Kalliope from Elwynn Forest in tier 12.

I think a faction could provide a lot of layer to being a hunter. But it would definitely take time and effort to develop this. Why would all the hunters unite in a faction? What is a big enough threat for us all to work together despite of being alliance or horde? Who is the next big hero? Why is this person's most important trait that he/she is a hunter? What is so unique about being a hunter that it is the only thing that can win the battle? Would hunters have a city of their own?*

I hope someone at Blizzard realise that I'm right, and give the tactical masterminds with firepower their fair share of spotlight. We’re the Buffy Summers of this game! We're Neo and Trinity! We're the Sydney Bristows, the Robin Hoods, the Davy Crockets! We’re the Hiawathas! The Wilhelm Tells. Chuck Norris, that’s us. We’re the MacGyvers!!! And yeah, we’re the Aragorns and Legolases too.

*Of course not. Hunters aren’t city people. We're campers. Out in the woods, with the stars as our roof. Or up in the trees or in a cave. The camp filled with as many animals as there are humanoids.

  1. As a Priest I support this idea! Even more so if it meant I got a faction out of it too.

  3. That is a GREAT idea!!! We always need more hunter love in this game, and what a better way than having our own dedicated faction? I love the idea of having the dark rangers as a hunter specific faction :)
    Get on it blizz!
